Essay Contest (Sponsored by Wise County Historical Society and the WBA)
To celebrate the 250th Birthday of our great United States of America, the Wise Business Association and Wise County Historical Society are offering an Essay Contest for Wise County folks, both adult and youth. The theme is “Remember the Past, Imagine the Future”. Let your imagination be your guide! Choose any event that happened during our long history that interests you, and that you would like to know more about!
There will be two categories – Adult and Youth. Youth will be anyone 18 years of age, and younger. A 1st Place Award and a 2nd Place award will be awarded in each category. $150.00 will be awarded to the 1st Place winner, and $100.00 to the 2nd Place Winner, in both categories. The Award Ceremony will take place Friday, Oct. 9th, 6 PM, at The INN at Wise. There will be light refreshments and music. Everyone is welcome.
To enter, please use a cover sheet, with the following information:
Adult or youth; (School, if youth); your name, address, email, and phone number.
Dates: Entries must be received by September 26th, 2026.
Entries must be typed, and limited to 500 words.
